AoA partnered with the MCGM G (South) Ward to identify opportunities to improve the public domain by testing field applications of principles of Tactical Urbanism. Areas of focus being pedestrianisation, cycling, street furniture, gardens and maidans and place making, the project responded to requirements stated by the MCGM as well as identified new opportunities through field work across the ward. The intent was to develop projects that can be implemented in the next few months to a few years.
The project will further be conducted out the next 2 to 3 years and in charge faculty will take responsibility to implement the project engaging students at various stages. Students will get exposure to real world project processes from design to construction drawings, preparation of specification as per MCGM SoRs. Field work for activity mapping, hunting project opportunities led to proposals for actual projects to be presented to the MCGM. Preparation of Maps and other interesting documentation about the Ward was also done at various levels. The process would continue and production would involve sketches, maps, preparation of project briefs, study models, drawings, details, specifications and QS work over the next 2 to 3 years.
