Ghar-Kul

The site is based in the coastal city of Mangalore, Karnataka with abundance of landscape in the South & East direction, R. Netravati in the North & the Arabian Sea in the West. The aim of the project was to maximize views in all the directions creating drama on all the floor plates. Resulting in an extroverted structure with all service cores inside the intervention. The recreational ground was designed at the rear facade creating a smooth visual transition from the road. The vertical zoning was done in the following manner where the entrance lobby had a double- height canopy and a lounge followed by the gym and the badminton court. The podium level has an open cafe, pool & club house opening towards the open to sky courtyards. All the habitable spaces were designed around vertical transportation resulting in shorter corridor spaces. Symmetry is the main attraction of Gharkul & the important element while designing the floor plans & the elevations of the structure. Orange colour is used to highlight all the cantilevering elements which is complementary to the sea.
