Studio Conductors

Nestled in the mountains lie two small towns Narkanda known as a skiing location in winter and Kotgarh, known for the prime apple belt in the Himachal Pradesh. The studio was initiated by mapping both the towns. This mapping facilitates the students to understand how a community functions through various tangible and intangible aspects.

Through this extensive study and analysis of multiple layers of socio-economy, climate, natural surroundings, built-unbuilt, tourism and occupation, a foundation to design the program was formed. Each town had a site selected adjacent to the main road and the program dealt with redesigning/reworking existing functions on the site along with individual additional interventions which stem from each student's observations and understanding.
