Kanvinde House

This exercise was about exploring materials and understanding concepts about that go behind designing of house like mass and void , floor vise planning through the section models ( the details of interior spaces) and detailing of houses from the exterior through the concrete models. This exercise helped a lot to understand spaces which couldn’t be understood through the photos. The planning of internal spaces and levels could be understood through the detailed sections model, different voids, the partitions used to divide the spaces. The various openings on all facades, the open and semi open spaces throughout the house were very well planned.
The residence is located in New Delhi which is really very gratifying to understand and study. The planning and features of that house are really astounding. It has Aesthetically pleasing proportions of fenestrations and very clean volumes. It is exposed brick structure with passive cooling design techniques. It has double height spaces much of softscape on the both sides of the mass. It has an aesthetic appeal of heavy mass construction but looks light. He has a design approach which is functionalism that the space and Form of the building must emerge out of the logical arrangement of space inside and not from predetermined ideas like symmetry and no nonfunctional decoration. And to understand this house more clearly, we have made different mass and detailed models for it.
