Lanka
Lanka is a place from our imagination, a place we have all heard of while growing up. The idea of the project was to break away from the various visual representations of Lanka that we have come across in our lifetime and create a Lanka based solely on the text existing regarding the same.
Drawing from various literary sources that described the ‘city of gold’, we began translating into drawings what the words told us. Not only focusing on the location or the overview of the city, but also delving into the details of every part, be it the golden walls or the forests surrounding the palace, as well as the lives of the people living there. The idea was to represent these thoughts in the style of ancient miniature paintings as an ode to the history revolving around the story.
