Radhika Villa

The aim of the exercise was to represent the Radhika Villa( a case study done last semester) in the Drawing style of the architect Bente and Ernst Lohse. Radhika villa is located at Vastrapur in Ahmedabad and designed by Ar. Rajiv Kathapalia. It is a very unique structure with complex façade designs, a volumetric form and a great roof profile with different types of skylights. The brief while designing the villa was to build a home for a family of four and their frequent live-in guests. The house is built on a square piece of land and is located at the end of a quiet, tree lined internal street, ending in a garden.
Bente and Ernst lohse are known specially for their architectural fantasies done in a colourful post-modernistic style. In the assigned drawing, the House of Sir Walter Scott is represented in a very skilful and an abstractive way. After decoding the techniques, elements, composition and the colour scheme involved in Bente and Ernts Lohse’s drawing and comparing it with Radhika villa, all the similar architectural elements were extracted and arranged in the same manner to make a composition as seen through the lenses of Bente and and Ernst Lohses.
