The Commoner: Romanticism

This painting highlights the deepened appreciation of the emotions of a common man. A general exaltation of emotion over reason and of the senses over intellect, a turning in upon the self and a heightened examination of human personality and its moods. This painting further focuses on the feelings and lifestyle of the peasant, poor and struggling class of society. Romantics believed in the natural goodness of humans which is hindered by the urban life of civilization.
Emphasis on hard work and desperation towards recognition is portrayed. Thus, the character of this painting portrays the want of acceptance towards the society. Emotions were key to any literature, art, craft etc and that is the one main thing that I want to highlight.
