Alternatives to Tiles

A study regarding more environmentally friendly alternatives to building materials was conducted. Our group worked with different types of tiles, like vitrified, terracotta etc. The study delves into the process of manufacturing and the energy used in doing so, as well as transportation and application. Alongside this, feasibility in terms of usability and cost efficiency were also noted. Lastly, a comparative study between the three materials in order to establish the relative amount of sustainability of each material was made.
In this case, terracotta tiles proved to be the most sustainable, from the point of view of production as well as long term usage, followed by luxury vinyl tiles and lastly vitrified tiles.
