The main aim of the project was to assess the architectural impact selected structures situated in a certain precinct, on it’s immediate and overall context and surroundings. The project chosen in this case was Balewadi High Street, a part development by The Panchshil Business Park based in Pune in the upcoming Baner-Balewadi region. The assessment was carried out by analysing the structure under different categories and lenses such as style, history, structural dynamics, uniqueness, scale and mass, interior exterior connect etc; thereby drawing inferences of the consequent impact that the project renders to its users and surroundings.
In this case, Balewadi high street has had a very widespread impact ever since it materialised. Surrounded by young, cosmopolitan, high income groups staying in catchment areas like aundh, baner, waked, pashan, Hinjewadi etc, it has established itself as a new entertainment hub along with being recognized as the first multidisciplinary neighbourhood of it’s kind. It has gained immense youth recognition and appeal for the same. Structurally, the unbuilt is seen to connect the disconnected built in the form of common open, interactive podium spaces. The architectural form and style of this cluster of buildings is seen to be imitated by many upcoming projects in the vicinity. After the success of this entire project, many other existing and upcoming multi use developments in the city have incorporated the module of collaborative working spaces, f&b services and recreational areas together.
